A 5-year old social media post is now trending since both FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-finals have been played, as it had predicted the two teams that would play in the final, and even claimed to know the eventual World Cup champion.
Spain came through with their own impressive 2-0 win in the first semi against France to book a place in the World Cup final.
Defending champions Argentina qualified for the final with a final score of 2-1. Argentina will be playing the FIFA final twice in a row.
Just after the semi-finals, a tweet from July 2021 kept getting reshared on X (Twitter) by football fans around the world.
According to the tweet, the 2026 FIFA World Cup final would be between Argentina and Spain – exactly what it is now.

The prediction didn’t end there. The fan also asserted that Argentina will beat Spain 3-2 in a super-fight to lift the World Cup trophy.
As it became clear that the news had predicted the correct finalists for FIFA 2026, the screenshots of the 2021 post were eagerly shared and commented on; numerous users took the time to post them on social media.
Some said the prediction was āsurprisingā and others claimed it was merely a clever guess years before.
The viral post has caused much discussion amongst football fans. If Argentina wins the final 3-2, the prediction will easily become one of the most incredible football predictions ever posted on social media.
But many are not convinced: football is notoriously unpredictable, and no one can really say what will happen until the end of the game.
The five-year prediction of the final between Argentina and Spain may be entirely right or just a truly uncanny coincidence, but let’s see.
