LAHORE: National hero and Olympic gold medallist javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem returned home on Monday after securing first place at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, where he received a grand welcome at the airport.
Citizens showered flower petals on Arshad Nadeem. Talking to the media, Arshad Nadeem said that he is thankful to Allah Almighty for this success.
He said that he received respect from the prayers of the entire nation, he could not win the medal earlier due to injury, but after the injury he worked hard on himself.
Arshad Nadeem added that it is not easy to get a gold medal after an injury. “My coach and I worked hard and Allah gave us success.”
He thanked WAPDA and LESCO for giving him a job and a grade, which gave him encouragement. The national hero also thanked the Pakistan Sports Board and the Federation and said that he will continue preparing for the 2026 competitions.
According to Arshad Nadeem, “Gold is gold, no matter how many meters it is achieved.”
On the other hand, Yasir Sultan, who won the silver medal in the Islamic Solidarity Games, said that he was very happy with his first medal.
He said that he will work harder in the upcoming competitions. Yasir Sultan said that when you have such a big player with you, there is definitely pressure, but both of them enjoyed the competitions to the fullest.
