The ASAN Khidmat Centre has officially opened in Islamabad on Thursday achieving a new milestone in the public service delivery in Pakistan.

The citizen-focused approach used by the centre means that services are available in an efficient manner and in a transparent way, mitigating the problems caused by bureaucratic hurdles and simplifying procedures for the public.

Established according to the concept of ASAN, which is one of the leading brands in Azerbaijan’s intellectual sphere, the aim of the centre is to ensure effective, transparent and citizen-centred services.

At its first stage, the Pakistan ASAN Khidmat Centre will provide 64 services through 12 government institutions in a single integrated roof and multiple public services. The centre incorporates the standards of ASAN, for example the ASAN volunteer organisation and innovative technology-driven solutions aimed at making public service delivery more accessible and responsive to the needs of citizens.

The centre also has a special corner at the entrance that showcases the strong friendship between the Azerbaijan and Pakistan nation, including a statement by the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the strong brotherly relations between the two nations.

By combining various government services in one place, the centre makes it possible for the citizens to get certain procedures done quicker, obtain information easily and avail more responsive and easier to access system.

The combination of digital tools and volunteer assistance adds to this convenience and reliability to become an example for modern public services delivery.

After a tour in the centre, the Chairman of State Agency for Public Service and Social Innovations of Azerbaijan, Ulvi Mehdiyev, presented the concept of future development of the Pakistan ASAN Khidmat Centre based on innovative solutions from Azerbaijan’s DOST model, which is based on social support programmes.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif thanked President Ilham Aliyev for his support to implement the project and ASAN Khidmat as a progressive and innovative model.

He emphasised that the system would have broad application in Pakistan and strengthen the country’s commitment towards efficient governance and better services for people.

The inauguration also demonstrated Pakistan’s increasing international cooperation, with ASAN Khidmat model now being operational in six countries and it had signed agreements with more than 30 countries and international organisations.
