Reports circulating in Indian media on Sunday have claimed that legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle has passed away at the age of 92, allegedly due to complications related to multiple organ failure. According to these reports, she breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
Some outlets also claim that her last rites are scheduled to take place at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on April 13 at 4 pm. However, official confirmation from the family or hospital authorities is still awaited.
The singer, widely celebrated for recording over 12,000 songs across multiple languages, has been one of the most influential voices in Indian music history.
Following the reports, tributes have begun pouring in from across the music industry. Veteran singer Udit Narayan, who collaborated with Asha Bhosle on several popular tracks during the 1990s and early 2000s, expressed deep shock and sorrow over the news. In a recent interaction, he described her as an “icon” of Indian music, praising her unmatched versatility and her effortless ability to perform across genres.

Earlier, her family member, Anand Bhosle, shared the news of her hospitalisation on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). In his post, he requested people not to spread misinformation and said that she is currently receiving treatment for the infection.
