India set to face Pakistan in Asia Cup U19 final on Sunday

Asia Cup U19

In the final of the Asia Cup U19, Pakistan and India will face each other.

It is pertinent to mention that the title clash marks the first U19 Asia Cup final meeting between the two teams in 11 years.

India last beat Pakistan in the final in 2014, with that squad featuring players such as Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Sanju Samson, and Kuldeep Yadav.

In the ongoing eight-team event, Pakistan won two of their three games in Group A and advanced to the final after defeating Bangladesh by eight wickets in the second semi-final on Friday, December 19. Pakistan’s bowlers kept tight lines and took advantage of the conditions, leaving a modest total for the chase.

In the other semi-final, India also secured a place in the final by defeating Sri Lanka.

Pakistan will rely on their batting star Sameer Minhas, the team’s highest run-getter with 299 runs in four matches, including a century and a half-century. In the bowling department, right-arm pacer Abdul Subhan has been the most successful with 11 wickets from three matches, while left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Sayyam has claimed eight wickets so far.
