Asim Azhar breaks silence after viral concert video

Asim Azhar

After a video showing Asim Azhar losing his temper at a concert went viral online, the singer addressed it himself on Instagram early Wednesday, saying he wanted to stop the narrative from spiraling further.

Aik adad video chal rahi hai mere concert pe ghussa honay ki (There is a video going viral of me getting angry at a concert ). I don’t usually post any justifications, but this feels important, isse pehle mazeed misinformation phehle (before more misinformation is spread),” he wrote on his Instagram story.

He further wrote in his story, “ I don’t usually post any justification but this feels important, isse pehlay mazeed misinformation pehle.”

The widely circulated clip shows Azhar stopping mid-performance to confront a man trying to climb onto the stage. When the man identified himself as a bouncer, Azhar responded sharply: “Then why are you coming here? If you are a bouncer, then stay with them [the audience]. You are not more special than my public if you are a bouncer.”

Asim Azhar said the man was not a fan but a member of his own security team. He claimed the bouncer had been pushing women and teenagers in the crowd throughout the evening, which prompted his reaction. “Before I could have said anything, he jumped onto the stage,” Azhar noted. He criticised the bouncer for trying to assert authority over concertgoers instead of managing the crowd safely.

The singer stressed that audience safety is his top priority at every show and said he has stopped performances mid-song in the past whenever he noticed unsafe situations. While admitting that his response could have been softer, he said he will continue addressing any behaviour that threatens fan safety.
