The Pakistani cricket team will be looking to win the three-match series against Australia at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore today in their second ODI of the series, after a dominant five-run win in the opening match in Rawalpindi.
Pakistan are ahead in the series 1-0 and will be seeking to continue their winning streak. 21-year-old left-arm spinner Arafat Minhas made a sensational debut in the first ODI, taking 5 wickets for 32 runs.
His figures made him the first bowler from Pakistan to bowl a five wicket stand on ODI debut.
Australia were dismissed for 200 runs in 44.1 overs in the first innings. The guests had trouble putting in enough partnerships as Matthew Short scored 55 runs and Matt Renshaw was the top scorer with 61 runs.
Throughout the innings, Pakistan bowlers kept the pressure on the Australian side and kept them from putting a competitive total on the board.
Pakistan were able to chase down the target comfortably with 45 balls to go.
Former captain Babar Azam composed a 69-run knock and led the chase, while wicketkeeper-batter Ghazi Ghori shared a crucial 127-run partnership with Babar, scoring 65 runs.
Australian pacer Nathan Ellis was the top performer amongst the Australian bowlers with 2 wickets for 45 runs.
On the other hand, Punjab Police has completed the elaborate security measures for this match.
Over 8,000 police officials and personnel will be deployed to maintain the safety of the players, officials and fans, says Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Rao Abdul Kareem.
The security of team hotels, travel routes and in and around Gaddafi Stadium has been increased.
The Dolphin Squad and Elite Police Force will also increase patrolling, and CCTV surveillance will be present, as well.
Authorities have been asking spectators to assist security in a bid to smooth the event.
