Awaiting outcome of ICC-BCB talks: Mohsin Naqvi

Federal Interior Minister and Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi stated that talks are currently ongoing between the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), and we are awaiting the outcome of these discussions.

He expressed this while speaking after the auction of the PSL franchise Multan Sultans on Monday.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has emphasised the importance of resolving the ongoing Bangladesh issue, stating that Pakistan’s stance remains firm.

He said that PCB is awaiting further information from the International Cricket Council (ICC) before making any public comments. “We are waiting for information from the ICC, and we will respond as soon as we receive it,” Naqvi said.

On the arrival of ICC officials in Pakistan, he remarked, “We have learned to respect guests who come to our house. When the ICC comes to us, we forget many things. I am not afraid of threats, and neither is the government. Everyone knows our field marshal, so threats are not an issue,” he reiterated.

Naqvi added that several countries had contacted Pakistan at the highest levels regarding the matter, including some friendly nations that have explained their positions.

Yesterday, an important meeting took place between PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi and ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja. Although the PCB has not yet issued a formal statement, sources said an announcement is expected soon.

According to PCB insiders, the matter has been taken up with the government, and Naqvi is likely to meet Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. A second round of discussions with the ICC is expected later in the evening.
