Pakistan Connect’s team reached Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), to report on the case of five-year-old Ayat Noor, who went missing on August 10 and was abducted, raped and later murdered.
Ayat Noor goes missing
Ayat Noor went missing on August 10. Her body was found 16 days later in a deserted dry well near a warehouse on University Road.
Police have arrested four suspects and are investigating the case. The suspects are Usman, Talha, Qasim and Hassan.
The exact street where Ayat Noor lived was shown in the report. Her house is at the end of the street. The report also showed the place where she was abducted.
A CCTV camera at the location captured footage that was shared on social media. The footage allegedly shows a boy named Hassan taking Ayat with him.
Her body was later found at a deserted place near a well. The location is only a few minutes away from where Ayat was allegedly taken. It took authorities 16 days to find her body.
All four suspects are behind bars while police continue their investigation.
Ayat Noor’s father demands justice
Speaking to Pakistan Connect, Ayat Noor’s father Shafiq recalled his daughter and said, “She would come running to me when I would come back home from work and knock. Then she would ask me, Papa, what have you brought for me?”
Ayat’s father became emotional while speaking about his daughter. On the verge of tears, little Ayat’s father demanded justice from the KP government and CM KP Sohail Afridi.
“They should be hanged in chowk in front of everyone”, he added regarding the culprits’ punishment.
DPO Haripur talks to Pakistan Connect
DPO Haripur told Pakistan Connect that Shafiq, who works as a labourer at a bakery, reported his daughter missing to police on August 10.
Police reached the spot and started investigating the case. After confirming that the girl was missing, police registered an FIR and began a proper investigation.
According to the DPO, police checked footage from 200 cameras. Twelve cameras provided useful footage and evidence.
After studying the footage, police traced three suspects and arrested Usman.
The DPO said Usman confessed to the crime before a magistrate on August 22. He confessed that he had kidnapped and tortured the girl. Police later arrested Usman, Talha, Qasim and Hassan.
During the search and investigation, police kept Ayat Noor’s father with them. The DPO said that although he was in grief, police kept him involved in the search.
On August 24, police identified the last suspect, Hassan. According to the DPO, Hassan was initially seen taking Ayat with him.
The investigation led police to a dry well in a deserted area on University Road. A rescue operation was carried out with the help of Rescue 1122.
The DPO said he supervised the operation and remained at the location.
On August 24, Ayat Noor’s body was recovered and taken to the Trauma Centre. A panel of doctors was formed there.
The DPO said the body was decomposed. However, doctors confirmed massive bleeding and rape.
