Ayatollah Alireza Arafi to carry Khamenei’s mission as interim Supreme Leader

Iran has appointed Ayatollah Alireza Arafi as the interim Supreme Leader to continue Syed Ayatollah Khamenei’s mission. He has been selected as a member of Iran’s Leadership Council after the death of Ayatollah Khamenei.

Ayatollah Alireza Arafi is also a member of the Guardian Council. He will perform his duties as a successor of Ayatollah Khamenei for the people of Iran.

Iran’s Supreme Leader will be announced in a day or two.

Iran’s Foreign Minister (FM) Abbas Araghchi has said that state institutions in Iran “are in place” and that the country “has constitutional procedures in place.”

Iran’s FM has said that the country has no intention of closing the Strait of Hormuz at present, nor any plans to do “anything that would disrupt navigation in it at this stage”.
