Azad Khan appointed as new Karachi police chief

KARACHI: Azad Khan has been appointed as the new Karachi Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) by the government of Sindh.

As per the notification issued by the Sindh Police, Azad Khan, who was serving as Additional Inspector General (AIG) CTD, has now been appointed as AIG, replacing Javed Alam Odho, who assumed charge as Sindh IGP.\

On the other hand, Sharjeel Kharral has been posted as Additional IG Operations Sindh, whereas Iqbal Dara has been given additional charge of Additional IG Operations.

Earlier, Javed Akhter Odho was appointed as the acting Inspector General of Police (IG) in Sindh. The Sindh Government issued an official notification of his appointment.

The change in leadership took place after the retirement of IGP Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.

According to the notification issued, Javed Akhter Odho, a BS-21 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan, was given an additional charge as IGP Sindh. He is also currently the Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Karachi Range, and was appointed to this post last year.

Sindh Govt Imposes Strict Traffic Rules for Government Vehicles

In a separate development, the Sindh government issued new instructions requiring all government officers to personally pay e-challans. While imposing strict penalties for traffic offences, including seat belt violations and mobile phone use.

The Sindh government has announced tougher traffic regulations for government vehicles. It has been stated that officers will now be responsible for paying their own e-challans, and immediate action will be taken against any traffic violations.

According to the given details, government officers are required to fill out their own e-challans. Also, strict penalties will be issued for violations, including those under the previously suspended traffic rules.

The government has also directed authorities to take action against vehicles with tinted windows and to issue strict fines for signal violations, as per the reports.

There will be no exemptions for using mobile phones while driving, and fines are now mandatory for not wearing seat belts.
