PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir Meet Azerbaijani President

Web desk: Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, on a two-day official visit, where he was accorded a grand welcome.

The Prime Minister was received at the airport by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister, Yakov Ayubov.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz held an important meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. It was also attended by Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

In their discussions, the two leaders reviewed the promotion of bilateral relations, regional and global developments. Additionally, cooperation in key sectors of mutual interest.

Both sides agreed to further enhance collaboration in trade, investment, energy, communications, and defence.

Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated the leadership and people of Azerbaijan on the occasion of Youm-e-Fatah (Victory Day), calling the nation’s success “a message of new hope” for the Kashmiri and Palestinian people.

He also lauded President Aliyev’s leadership in achieving a peace agreement with Armenia, describing it as an important step toward lasting regional stability.

President Aliyev expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its consistent support of Azerbaijan’s just stance. He acknowledged Islamabad’s role in promoting peace and stability in South Asia.

Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to deepening political, economic, and strategic ties to elevate bilateral relations to new heights.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended an invitation to President Ilham Aliyev to visit Pakistan. The Azerbaijani leader graciously accepted it.

UK Army Chief Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir

Previously, General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the United Kingdom Army, called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, and measures to enhance bilateral defence cooperation between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.

Both military leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening collaboration for peace and stability in the region.

The UK Army Chief appreciated the Pakistan Army’s sacrifices and achievements in the fight against terrorism. And its continued efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
