People in Lahore are celebrating Basant today, and the Punjab government decorated Lahore beautifully on this occasion. It is necessary to mention that the Punjab government allowed the Basant to be celebrated in Lahore after a 25-year break. Several politicians and media personalities are celebrating Basant 2026 in Lahore.
Provincial Minister of Punjab for information and culture, Azma Bukhari, has celebrated the Basant 1st day at Delhi Gate on a rooftop. There is a video going viral in which she can be seen with a kite in her hand. Azma Bukhari’s daughter and his husband are also celebrating Basant at the same rooftop.
There are several other Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) workers who were also present at the rooftop with Azma Bukhari to celebrate Basant. In the video, it can be seen that the rooftop where Azma Bukhari were celebrating Basant was very decorated with a big poster of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz.
Guidelines to celebrate Basant
The Punjab government made some protocols to follow during the Basant days in Lahore. The Punjab government urged citizens to avoid travelling by bike on 6th, 7th and 8th February. However, the transport in the city is completely free on Basant days. If you are on a bike, then there should be a rod in front of your bike to avoid any mishap and wearing a helmet is necessary.
Free rides on Yango and InDrive
If you are in Lahore, you can get free Yango or InDrive rides as the Punjab government has agreed with these two transport companies to provide free rides to citizens on Basant days.
Under this plan, Lahoris can get free rikshaw and cab rides on 6th, 7th and 8th February, the three days of the Basant festivals.
Officials from the Punjab government confirmed that this facility will help tourists and citizens, as well as address the parking issue in the city.
Yango and InDrive will offer 180,000 free rides in three days.
