PSL 11 witnessed history as Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam smashed records in T20 cricket. The national team star became the fastest player ever to reach 12,000 T20 runs, achieving this incredible milestone in a thrilling clash against Karachi Kings.
Babar reached the mark in just 338 innings, surpassing West Indies great and legendary striker Chris Gayle, who took 345 innings to hit the same milestone. Fans around the world are celebrating this landmark achievement by one of Pakistan’s finest batsmen.
Babar has become the 12th player in the world, and the second Pakistani after Shoaib Malik, to score 12,000 runs in T20 cricket.
It should be noted that Chris Gayle remains at the top with 14,562 runs in 455 innings, while his compatriot Kieron Pollard has scored 14,482 runs in 652 innings.
England’s Alex Hales has scored 14,449 runs in 423 innings. David Warner has scored 14,121 runs in 434 T20 innings, followed by Jos Buttler, Virat Kohli, Shoaib Malik, James Vince, Rohit Sharma, Faf du Plessis, and Quinton de Kock.
Earlier, in the 17th match of PSL 11, Peshawar Zalmi set a massive target of 247-runs for Karachi Kings.
The match, being played at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, saw Peshawar Zalmi bat first and score 246 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their allotted overs.
World’s top batsmen inclduing Babar Azam and Kaushal Mendis, shared a record-breaking partnership of 191 runs. Previously, Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan had set a partnership record of 176 runs for Karachi Kings against Islamabad United.
Kaushal Mendis played a brilliant innings of 109 runs off 52 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 14 fours. Babar Azam also impressed with 87 runs, while Abdul Samad played a blistering knock of 40 runs off just 12 balls. For Karachi Kings, opener Muhammad Haris was dismissed without scoring, and Michael Bracewell managed only 6 runs.
In bowling, Abbas Afridi took two wickets, and Khushdil Shah claimed one. Earlier, Karachi Kings captain David Warner won the toss and elected to field first, sending Peshawar Zalmi in to bat.
