Tourists flock to Babusar Top after rare summer snowfall

Babusar Top faced an unusual spell of snowfall and attracted a large number of tourists from across Pakistan and abroad. This turned the scenic mountain destination into a bigger attraction during the summer season. The rare weather event has increased tourists and visitor traffic, as people are eager to witness snow-covered landscapes.

Snowfall has begun at Babusar Top in irregular intervals, despite it being mid-summer. Surrounding peaks have been covered with snow so far, creating breathtaking scenery for the tourists and visitors enjoying the weather by taking photographs and spending quality time with their families. For many tourists, this weather has been unique to witness, as snowfall during June is uncommon. With crowds continuing to arrive, Babusar Top is experiencing its busiest period in recent years.

Babusar Top is a mountain in northern Pakistan connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Gilgit-Baltistan. It is located at an altitude of 4,173 metres at the northern end of the Kaghan Valley in Mansehra District, connecting it with Chilas in Diamer District through the Karakoram Highway.

Residents stated that the increasing popularity of Babusar Top, along with Diamer district, is helping establish the region as the top travel destination of the year.

Additionally, the snowfall enhanced Babusar Top’s natural beauty and reputation, making it Pakistan’s most popular tourist destination. Local business owners have welcomed the increasing tourism, expressing hope that the surge in visitors will give a boost to the local economy. This will also create more business opportunities and long-term economic benefits for the locals.

On the other hand, previously, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had issued a three-day weather forecast for Karachi for June 24-26, warning of partly cloudy to misty and humid weather, including the observance of 9th and 10th Muharram. There are also some chances for showers and winds from time to time during the forecast period in isolated areas of the city.
