A judicial magistrate has sent a 17-year-old teenager to jail on a 14-day judicial remand. The case involves an alleged attempt to poison his father after seeking information from artificial intelligence. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) presented the teenager before Judicial Magistrate Naeem Wattoo. His three-day physical remand had ended before the hearing. The investigating officer told the court that further physical custody was not required. The magistrate then ordered the teenager’s judicial remand.

The court also directed the investigating officer to submit the charge-sheet within the required period. The suspect’s father reportedly raised no objection to the case. According to the investigation, the teenager is a second-year student from Bahawalpur. His father told investigators that his son often conducted different types of research. The case began after the NCCIA arrested the teenager on September 23. The agency said the teenager had reportedly developed strained relations with his father. Investigators alleged that a disagreement between the teenager and his father preceded the incident. They said he allegedly planned to kill his father.

The NCCIA also said the teenager had developed an interest in chemistry. According to the agency, he became interested after watching the American crime drama Breaking Bad. Investigators reportedly found a small laboratory at the teenager’s home. The agency said he used the space for chemical experiments. The NCCIA alleged that the teenager obtained chemical materials from Australia and Islamabad. Investigators said he then prepared a substance at home.

According to the agency, the teenager allegedly gave the substance to his father. The reported attempt did not succeed. The investigation later found that the teenager allegedly sought further information from an AI system. Authorities said he asked for guidance related to administering poison without detection. The NCCIA said an automated system provided information about the suspect to its Punjab office. The agency then formed a team to investigate the matter.

The team conducted an operation in Bahawalpur and arrested the teenager. Investigators are examining the chemicals involved in the case. They are also looking into the teenager’s online activities. The investigation aims to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident.

The Bahawalpur teenager sent to jail for alleged AI-assisted attempt to poison father case highlights concerns about the possible misuse of artificial intelligence. However, the allegations remain under investigation. The teenager has been sent to judicial remand, and the court has ordered the investigating officer to submit the charge sheet. The Bahawalpur teenager sent to jail for alleged AI-assisted attempt to poison father case also raises questions about how AI systems can be used by young people. Authorities have increasingly examined potential risks linked to AI chatbots and agents. Several countries are also working on rules for AI safety and responsible use.

For now, the NCCIA investigation remains ongoing. The court’s latest order places the teenager in judicial custody for 14 days.
