The 327th Baisakhi Mela will be celebrated from April 10 to April 19, with around 26,000 Sikh pilgrims from across Pakistan and around the world expected to take part in the annual festivities.
According to officials, approximately 3,000 Sikh pilgrims from India will begin arriving in Lahore via the Wagah Border on April 10. The visiting pilgrims are scheduled to stay in Pakistan for the duration of the celebrations and will return to India on April 19.
Pilgrims will travel to several holy sites
During their visit, the pilgrims will travel to several holy sites, including historic Gurdwara Panja Sahib, Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, and Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib.
All preparations for the event have been completed, including security and administrative arrangements, and duties have been assigned.
Indian pilgrims will depart for Nankana Sahib on April 11
The Indian pilgrims will depart for Nankana Sahib on April 11 and visit local gurdwaras there the following day.
They will then proceed to Gurdwara Sacha Sauda in Farooqabad and Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal. The main event, Bhog Akhand Path Sahib Khalsa Janam Din, will be held at Gurdwara Panja Sahib in Hassan Abdal.
The pilgrims will also stay at Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur during their journey. It is worth noting that the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi has issued visas to more than 2,800 Indian pilgrims to attend the Baisakhi festival.
On this occasion, Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires in New Delhi, Saad Ahmed Warraich, extended heartfelt congratulations to the pilgrims and stated that the visit reflects Pakistan’s commitment to promoting interfaith and intercultural harmony.
