The Punjab government has announced a big decision regarding the purchase of petrol vehicles for provincial government officials. According to the media report, the Punjab government imposed a ban on the purchase of petrol vehicles for government officials in the province.

Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman confirmed that the Punjab government will not purchase petrol vehicles for their officials anymore.

Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman also confirmed that the government will only buy hybrid or electric vehicles for government officials and government institutes. He also stated that the government is taking different initiatives to normalise buying electric vehicles in Pakistan.

The Punjab finance minister, Mian Shuja-ur-Rehman, also warned that if the situation regarding war in the Middle East remains the same or the war escalates, then the government will not have any other option except increasing the petrol prices.

He also said that the government is trying to reduce fuel consumption and also directed the masses to use petroleum products carefully.

Talking about the situation in Pakistan, he said that the country is facing an increase in fuel consumption of 7 to 10 per cent every week, and if this trend continues, an increase in petrol prices may be inevitable.

Punjab finance minister also said that Pakistan imports 81 per cent of petroleum products from the Middle East. The war in the Middle East is affecting the import of petroleum products for Pakistan directly.

Earlier, the federal government increased the prices of petrol by Rs 55 and currently the petrol price in Pakistan is approximately Rs 325.17 per litre. However, the authorities confirmed that there is no shortage of petrol in the country.
