Ban on JAAC to stay intact, no relief for culprits: Absar Alam

Senior journalist and anchorperson, Absar Alam, has stated that the ban on the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) will remain in place. No concessions will be given to those who kill police officers and desecrate their bodies.

In a message, he stated that the ban on the JAAC will not be lifted for now, and despite any assurances given by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, certain key decisions will remain in place.

He said that the government has taken an unequivocal stance that a serious mistake was made in the past when cases registered against the miscreants were withdrawn. We are now facing the consequences and losses of that decision, and therefore, such a mistake will not be repeated.

The cases registered against four key leaders of the committee, including Sardar Aman, Khawaja Mehran, Khalid Nawaz, and Shaukat Nawaz Kashmiri, as well as Sardar Umar Nazir, will not be withdrawn under any circumstances, he added. He added that there is no possibility of leniency or withdrawal of cases in such matters in the future, and that the state’s writ will be maintained in all circumstances.

The main reason for this strict decision is that these elements allegedly killed police personnel during the protests in a brutal manner, desecrated their bodies, and subjected them to severe abuse, he reiterated.

In addition, widespread chaos was created, government property was set on fire, and vehicles, including those at CMH Hospital, were destroyed. No leniency will be shown to anyone involved in these serious and horrific incidents.
