Bangladesh thrash Pakistan by 8 wickets in 1st ODI of series

Bangladesh secured a convincing eight-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first One Day International, comfortably chasing down a modest target of 115 runs.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh elected to field first and invited Pakistan to bat. The decision proved fruitful as the Pakistani batting lineup struggled throughout the innings and was bowled out for just 114 runs.

In response, Bangladesh chased the target with ease, reaching 115 runs for the loss of only two wickets in 15.1 overs. Tanzeed Hasan led the chase with an impressive unbeaten 67, guiding his team to victory with a confident batting display. Najamul Hossain also contributed with a steady 27 runs.

With this dominant performance, Bangladesh took a 1–0 lead in the ODI series, highlighting a strong start with both disciplined bowling and an efficient batting chase.

Earlier, Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and elected to field first. Pakistan opened their innings with Sahibzada Farhan and Moaz Sadaqat. Sahibzada Farhan scored 27 runs before being dismissed, while Shamil Hussain managed only 4 runs. Moaz Sadaqat, playing the first match of his ODI career, scored 18 runs.

Bangladesh’s bowlers dominated the innings and dismantled Pakistan’s batting line-up, bowling the team out for 114 runs in 30.1 overs.

Faheem Ashraf was the standout performer for Pakistan with 37 runs. Mohammad Rizwan scored 10 runs, Salman Agha 5, Hussain Talat 4, Abdul Samad was dismissed for 0, Shaheen Afridi scored 4, and Mohammad Wasim also fell for 0, while Abrar Ahmed remained not out on 0.

For Bangladesh, Nahid Rana delivered the best bowling performance of his ODI career, taking 5 wickets for 24 runs. Captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed with the ball, claiming 3 wickets for 29 runs.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi had said that if his team had won the toss, they would have chosen to bat first, adding that a total of around 270 to 280 runs could have been possible on the wicket.
