The reshuffle of a senior police officer in Bannu has drawn attention amid a reported fallout involving the Lakki Marwat Aman Committee.
The transfer of the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bannu has emerged as a significant development following the reported dispute surrounding the committee.
But no details of the reasons were given for the transfer and it is not known if it was directly connected to the fallout.
The development also comes after security forces thwarted a possible terrorist attack in Bannu after a motorcycle loaded with explosives was found near Mandan Gate recently.
Police say the motorcycle was being driven by unidentified suspects as they tried to enter the city when one of the tyres burst.
The suspects left the motorcycle and fled the scene.
The police and Bomb Disposal Squad arrived at the scene and found explosives on the motorcycle.
The bomb disposal team disarmed the explosives at the scene and the motorcycle was transferred to the police station for further investigation.
The suspects have been put under search and the motorcycle is being checked for clues to its origin and any individuals who may have participated in the thwarted attack.
Police have yet to reveal how many or what kind of explosives were found, or to identify suspects.
The attack underscores the ongoing security issues of Bannu, Lakki Marwat and elsewhere in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where terrorist violence is a serious threat.
The fallout of the Lakki Marwat Aman Committee and the transfer of the RPO are likely to be closely monitored as authorities step up security measures and operations throughout the region as they continue to strengthen security and prevent attacks in urban areas.
