Web desk: The Islamabad and Lahore Bar Councils have announced strikes in response to the recent terrorist attack at the Islamabad district court.
Lawyers will stay away from courts, and both councils have expressed condolences to the victims while demanding justice and improved security for the judiciary.
Islamabad Bar Council Calls for Strike
The Islamabad Bar Council has announced a three-day strike. Lawyers will not appear in any courts of Islamabad from November 12 to 14.
The council expressed grief over the terrorist attack at the district court. It described the incident as cowardly and an attack on the judiciary.
Several lives were lost, and many people, including lawyers and citizens, were injured.
Condolences have been extended to the families of the victims, and prayers offered for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The Islamabad Bar Council said it will hold a general house meeting soon.
The council also called for the criminals and their facilitators to be brought to justice. It reiterated its commitment to the independence of the judiciary and the protection of the legal community.
Lahore Bar Council Calls for Strike
Separately, the Lahore Bar Association has declared a day of mourning tomorrow.
The association has also called for a strike and demanded that the government control the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.
World Condemns Islamabad Blast
The recent suicide blast outside the Islamabad Judicial Complex has drawn international condemnation. Several countries and organisations have expressed condolences to the victims’ families.
The British High Commissioner, Qatari Foreign Ministry, US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, the Chinese Embassy, Australia, and the European Union all condemned the attack and reaffirmed their support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
The UK, Qatar, and China extended sympathies to the families of those killed and prayed for the recovery of the injured.
The US and EU emphasised their backing for Pakistan’s efforts to maintain peace and security.
The Chinese Embassy, in particular, highlighted the severity of the attack and expressed hope for a swift recovery of all affected.
