Basant 2026 is at its peak as people in Lahore celebrate the last day of the event. Basant was back in Lahore after two decades with strict guidelines. The Punjab government announced free transport for citizens in Lahore during the three days of Basant.


According to media reports, almost 900,000 vehicles entered the city. Similarly, around 1.4 million people travelled on public transport, including the Orange Line, Metro, Feeder, Electric, and other government buses, during Basant.
Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz praised Lahoris for following the safety guidelines issued by the government.
Due to a heavy welcoming response by the people of Lahore, the Punjab government extended the celebration hours till 5 am tomorrow.
According to several media reports, people from different cities of Punjab attended the Basant celebrations.
The Punjab government makes arrangements for security to avoid any inconvenience in the city during Basant.

The international envoys, including individuals, also attended the Basant festivities in Lahore. UK Ambassador to Pakistan Jane Marriott also attended the Basant 2026 festivities in Lahore. The participation of US and UK envoys in the Basant 2026 celebrations highlights the international interest in local cultural events.

Several prominent figures also praised the Punjab government for reviving Basant in Lahore after years. Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai also said that her husband is from Lahore and they are planning to visit Lahore next year to celebrate Basant 2026.

She remarked that this type of events should happen in Pakistan as the country is struggling with different things.

On the other hand, People of Lahore rejected the call for Shutter-down strike by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), particularly Lahoris are busy celebrating Basant, and all the markets and businesses are open in the city.

All the markets are open in Peshawar, where Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is in government.
