The Punjab government has once again revised the dates for Basant 2027 due to certain unavoidable circumstances and developments.
The office of the Lahore Deputy Commissioner has issued a notification announcing that Basant will be celebrated from March 12 to 14, 2027. According to the notification, kite flying will be permitted in Lahore during these three days.
Sources said the final decision regarding the revised Basant dates will be subject to approval by the provincial cabinet.

Last month, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced good news for the people of Lahore, approving 10 days of Basant celebrations in the provincial capital.

It may be recalled that after a prolonged hiatus of 25 years, Basant was celebrated in Lahore from February 6 to 8 this year.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari said in a post on X that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif had directed that a 10-day Basant festival be organised in Lahore to mark the arrival of the new year 2027.

According to the chief minister’s directions, Basant will be celebrated from January 29 to February 7, with a one-day break on February 5 to observe Kashmir Day.

Maryam Nawaz has directed the authorities to take greater measures for public safety and convenience than those implemented during the previous Basant celebrations. She said the 10-day festivities would help promote Punjab’s cultural heritage and Lahore’s centuries-old traditions around the world.

The chief minister also appealed to citizens to demonstrate the same sense of responsibility, duty and care for human lives that they showed during the previous Basant celebrations.
