Big development: New Lawyers’ Complex, parking facility approved

The lawyers’ community has received encouraging news as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has formally approved the allocation of a new plot for the construction of the Lawyers’ chambers, along with a multi-storey parking facility near the lower courts.

This site has been designated as an alternative location, replacing the previously allotted plot, following a request submitted by the Ministry of Law and Justice.

The approvals were granted during the first CDA Board meeting of 2026, chaired by Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

The session was attended by members of the CDA Board, who reviewed and decided on several key development matters.

Among the major decisions, the Board approved the allotment of a plot to the Pakistan Engineering Council. It also considered a request for land allocation for the construction of a Field Audit Office Complex in the Mauve Area.

The meeting further deliberated on the feasibility study and detailed design of the Shahdara Dam project, as well as on studies related to a Water Treatment Plant and transmission lines aimed at addressing the growing water needs of Islamabad.

In addition, the Board decided to seek technical support from SUPARCO and the Survey of Pakistan to develop GIS-based datasets, including a digital base map, geospatial web portals, and a decision support system covering the entire administrative jurisdiction of the federal capital.

The Board also approved the hiring of a government or State-Owned Entity (SOE) consultant to undertake assessment, retrofitting, upgradation, design, procurement, and execution of fire detection and suppression systems, life safety measures, and HVAC upgrades in the Supreme Court of Pakistan building.
