Bilawal directs Gov Kundi to follow PHC orders on CM Afridi’s oath-taking

KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has directed Governor KP Faisal Karim Kundi to follow Peshawar High Court (PHC) orders on Chief Minister Elect Sohail Afridi oath taking.

Bilawal also asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi to fulfill his constitutional and legal responsibility in accordance with Tuesday’s Peshawar High Court order and return to his province to administer the oath to CM-elect Sohail Afridi.

“You should go to KP. I will ask the Sindh chief minister to lend you his plane so you can reach KP and fulfil your constitutional and legal responsibility in accordance with the court’s order,” said the PPP chairman while addressing a seminar in Karachi.

Yesterday, the Peshawar High Court issued an important statement regarding the Oath ceremony of the new Chief Minister (CM) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

The court has stated that the new CM KP will take the oath today.

On the issue of the oath of the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Peshawar High Court ordered the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to administer the oath to the newly elected Chief Minister Sohail Afridi by 4 pm on Wednesday.

The order was given while giving a reserved verdict on the petition of the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)

Election of CM KP Sohail Afridi

PTI’s Sohail Afridi was elected as the Chief Minister of KP after the resignation of Ali Amir Gandapur.

Sohail Afridi secured 90 votes and won the elections unopposed.

However, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s (JUI-F) Maulana Lutfur Rehman, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf and Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) Arbab Zarak Khan did not get any votes as their members staged a walkout from the session.
