Blood moon Ramzan 2026

Skywatchers are getting ready for a rare celestial treat as the total lunar eclipse will take place during the holy month of Ramzan on March 3, 2026.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). The eclipse, which can also be referred as a “Blood Moon” will be visible across large parts of Asia, Australia and the Americas.

In Pakistan, the observers will observe the later stages of the phenomenon at moonrise as several preceding phases will occur during the day.

The penumbral eclipse will start at 1:44 PM and the partial eclipse at 2:50 PM, according to the official timeline for the eclipse.

Totality will begin at 4:05 PM maxing out at 4:34 PM. The total phase will end at 5:03 PM with the partial eclipse ending at 6:17 PM. Penumbral phase ends at 7:23 PM.

A total lunar eclipse is the phenomenon that happens when the Earth passes directly between the two bodies in the sky – the Sun and the Moon.

In this way the shadow of the Earth is projected across the surface of the Moon. When sunlight passes through the Earth’s atmosphere, the Moon appears reddish in color and this condition is called the “Blood Moon” effect.

This totality phase will be seen for about 58 minutes and 18 seconds.

In western North America, the eclipse will be visible throughout the entire dawn period and some of the best viewing would be visible during that time.

The event will also be observable throughout parts of the United State, inland Australia and northwest Mexico. Some 31 percent of the world’s population – approximately 2.1 billion people – will have the opportunity to see totality.

Importantly, lunar eclipses are perfectly safe to observe with the naked eye. This will be the only total lunar eclipse of 2026, last one until the December 31,2028, this will be a must-see event for the astronomy fans everywhere in the world.
