How to keep blood sugar stable at night?

Scientists take major step toward potential cure for type 1 diabetes

It is important to choose the right foods for dinner that can help keep blood sugar levels balanced, according to nutrition experts.

Foods high in fibre, protein and healthy fats help the blood sugar level to remain steady in the bloodstream, dietary experts say.

According to the experts, some non-starchy vegetables, extra virgin olive oil, avocado, nuts and fatty fish are good to eat in the evening.

Wisely, nutritionist Sherry Gao says that spinach, asparagus and other leafy vegetables are low in sugar because the presence of fibre slows down the absorption of sugar, which helps to keep blood sugar level balanced.

Fats, like fatty fish, like salmon, tuna and trout which have omega-3 fatty acids and protein, have also been studied as having beneficial effects on insulin sensitivity.

The report says the fibre, healthy fats and antioxidants in avocado help to balance out the release of sugar.

Likewise, almonds or any other nuts are also rich in fibre, protein and magnesium that are said to be beneficial for blood sugar control.

Other experts say that the antioxidants and healthy fats in extra virgin olive oil slow the digestion of carbohydrates, and that this can help to improve insulin sensitivity.

A balanced diet, using the right kinds of carbohydrates and a short walk after dinner can also help to control blood sugar, according to experts, who have cautioned against relying exclusively on certain foods.
