A Jirga, flag meeting was held on Monday in Chitral between Pakistan and Afghanistan elders. The meeting was organised by 206 MI Chitral, bringing together Afghan Advisors and Pakistan Army Sector Country Advisors. The meeting focused on the handover of bodies of TTA personnel and establishing a local-level ceasefire.
Advisors from 141 Wing participated in the flag meeting, including Qari Ahmad Faqir, resident of Arandu Khas, Mehrab Gul, resident of Arandu Khas; Abdul Kabir, resident of Arandu Khas; Fazal Akbar, resident of Arandu Khas, and Maulana Wali Muhammad.
Advisors from Afghan forces participated in the flag meeting, including Haji Matafar, resident of Dokalam, Haji Usman, resident of Dokalam, Habib Rasool, resident of Dokalam; Jandola Khan, resident of Dokalam, Juma Rehman, resident of Dokalam, Maulana Ali Rehman, Brikot, Haji Gulab, resident of Briko.
During the discussions, the conditions proposed by the Chitral Scouts were accepted by the Afghan Advisors. These included:
- The handover of the bodies of TTA personnel.
- Retention of ammunition and weapons by Pakistani security forces.
- Implementation of a ceasefire at the local level.
- Residents will not return to the areas previously affected.
- Pakistani security forces will be notified in advance if any war orders are received from Afghan commanders.
Following the agreement, the bodies of five TTA personnel were officially handed over to the Afghan Jirga Advisors, marking a significant step in maintaining peace and coordination between both sides at the local level. Officials described the meeting as a successful exercise in dialogue and confidence-building between neighbouring military authorities.
