For anyone looking to buy a used car in Pakistan under Rs1.5 million, the Prince Pearl is drawing attention as the cheapest option on the market. Prices for 2022 and 2023 models range from Rs1.1 million to Rs1.4 million, making it cheaper than many older Suzuki Mehran models.
For instance, a 2013 Mehran is listed online for as much as Rs1.3 million, while the same money could buy a nearly new Prince Pearl in good condition.
Despite its low price, the Prince Pearl offers features that most used cars like Mehran cannot match. The Prince Pearl car comes with wooden trims, power windows, a digital speedometer, and a modern interior. In many ways, it feels more advanced than a Mehran.
However, the car’s low price reflects some challenges. Being a new and lesser-known brand in Pakistan, Prince Pearl does not enjoy the trust that Suzuki has built over decades. Parts are expensive and not widely available.
For example, a single headlight costs around Rs33,000, which is roughly the price of several major parts for a Mehran. Rear lights sell for about Rs25,000. These high costs can make maintenance difficult, and some owners have reported problems with brakes, suspension, and fuel efficiency.
Public opinion about the car is mixed. Many users praise its modern look, build quality, and value for money, while others criticise its maintenance difficulties and the limited availability of parts. The company’s aftersales service is also considered below par, adding to buyers’ concerns.
Still, the Prince Pearl can be a good choice for those on a budget. It offers fuel efficiency of around 14 kilometres per litre in the city and up to 16 on highways. Its suspension is adequate for its price, and the car is considered worth buying if your budget is below Rs1.5 million.
Experts suggest that the company could gain more buyers by improving aftersales service, ensuring reliable parts, and reducing their cost. Until then, potential buyers should weigh both the advantages and the challenges before making a decision.
