South Africa cruised to a comfortable 57-run victory over Canada in their opening match of the T20 World Cup on Monday.
Captain Aiden Markram led from the front with a blistering 59 off just 32 balls as South Africa piled up an imposing 213 for four after being put in to bat.
He received solid support from Ryan Rickelton 33, Quinton de Kock 25, Tristan Stubbs 34 and David Miller (39), all of whom chipped in with handy contributions.
In reply, Canada were kept in check by the South African bowlers and could manage only 156 for eight in their allotted 20 overs, falling well short of the target.
Earlier, Canada has won the toss against South Africa and decided to bowl first in the T20 World Cup (WC) match.
South Africa has opted for a pace-heavy combination for their World Cup opener against Canada in Ahmedabad, naming just one specialist spinner in their playing XI.
Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj is the sole slow-bowling option, while the attack is led by a four-man pace unit comprising Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi.
