Pakistan car sales jump 35 percent in December as auto demand improves

Car sales in Pakistan

Car sales in Pakistan recorded a strong year-on-year rise in December 2025, supported by improved consumer sentiment and steady demand across several vehicle categories, according to the latest figures released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association.

Sales of cars, including light commercial vehicles, vans and jeeps, climbed to 13,280 units during the month. This marked a 35.2 percent increase compared with 9,820 units sold in December last year. Industry observers say the growth reflects a gradual recovery in purchasing activity after a difficult period for the auto sector.

However, the momentum softened when compared with the previous month. On a month-on-month basis, sales fell by 14.0 percent from 15,442 units recorded in November 2025, suggesting some caution among buyers towards the end of the year.

For the first six months of the ongoing fiscal year, from July to December 2025, cumulative sales reached 88,322 units. This was around 45.5 percent higher than the 60,676 units sold during the same period last year, pointing to a broader improvement in market conditions.

Production figures also showed a healthy picture. In December alone, the automotive industry produced 162,270 units across all vehicle categories, while total sales stood at 160,408 units. During the July to December period, cumulative production rose to 928,521 units, up from 698,446 units a year earlier, reflecting an increase of about 32.9 percent.

Among passenger cars, Toyota retained its lead in the 1300cc and above segment. The company produced 1,959 units of its Corolla, Yaris and Corolla Cross models in December, while sales reached 2,116 units. Honda produced 2,129 units of its City and Civic models during the month, with sales of 1,739 units, showing a slight decline compared to November.

Suzuki continued to post solid numbers across different segments. Swift production stood at 1,331 units with sales of 1,009 units. In the below 1000cc category, Suzuki Alto remained a key driver, with production of 4,388 units and sales of 3,863 units.

The SUV and pickup segment also remained active. Total production in this category reached 2,215 units, while sales were recorded at 2,609 units. Honda’s BR-V and HR-V models contributed with production of 180 units and sales of 204 units.

In the commercial vehicle space, trucks and buses saw production of 626 units in December, with sales of 372 units. Manufacturers such as Hino, Isuzu, Master and JAC continued to serve demand from logistics and transport operators.

The farm tractor segment delivered another strong performance. Production reached 3,506 units in December, with sales of 3,399 units. For the July to December period, tractor production totalled 13,366 units, while sales stood at 12,929 units, underlining sustained demand from the agricultural sector.
