Pakistan’s auto sales rise in February, Alto remains top seller

Sales of cars in Pakistan, including light commercial vehicles, vans, and jeeps, saw a significant rise in February 2026, according to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA). A total of 17,121 vehicles were sold last month, up 41.7 percent from 12,084 units recorded in February 2025.

On a month-on-month basis, sales fell by 25.7 percent compared with 23,055 units in January 2026, showing a seasonal slowdown. Cumulative sales for the first eight months of the current fiscal year reached 128,489 units, about 43.2 percent higher than the 89,729 vehicles sold in the same period last year.

Production and sales were closely aligned in February. The industry produced 157,543 vehicles across all categories, while total sales slightly exceeded production at 159,512 units, highlighting continued market strength.

Alto remains Pakistan’s most popular car

Pak Suzuki’s Alto continued to lead the market. The company produced 4,236 units and sold 5,522 units in February 2026, making it the country’s best-selling car. Production of the Swift rose to 1,467 units from 633 units a year earlier, while the Cultus saw 506 units produced, up from 289 in February 2025. The WagonR remained discontinued during this period.

Toyota and Honda show steady demand

Toyota Pakistan maintained its position in the 1300cc and above segment. Production of Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross models reached 2,846 units in February, up from 2,074 units a year earlier. Sales exceeded production with 3,102 units sold, reflecting strong demand.

Honda Atlas Cars Pakistan reported production of 1,938 units of the Civic and City, slightly higher than 1,838 units in February 2025. Sales were close to production at 1,861 units, indicating steady market interest.

Jeeps, pickups, and two- and three-wheelers

The jeeps and pickups segment produced 3,318 units in February, up from 3,074 units a year earlier, with sales surpassing production at 3,733 units. Motorcycles and three-wheelers continued to form the backbone of Pakistan’s automotive sector, with production of 157,543 units and sales of 159,512 units, making them the largest contributors to the industry.
