Web Desk: A case has been registered against the vandals of Park View City on New Year’s night. More than 200 unknown individuals have been mentioned in the FIR for harassing families and damaging the Private society’s property.
The event was organised to welcome the New Year in Park View City, a well-known housing society in Islamabad, which later turned into a scene of extreme disorder and chaos instead of joy and celebration. Videos that are going viral on social media.
After videos of emergency arrangements and vandalism went viral on social media and criticism of the crowd, some videos have also emerged in which the truth of the incident is revealed and the reason is given.
Despite the arrangements for fireworks and concerts in Park View City, the situation deteriorated at midnight and the videos that went viral on social media highlighted the bitter side of the event.
In the viral videos, it can be seen that some youths threw jackets, sheets and other items in the air, tried to climb the fence and damaged the benches, forests and other installations installed in the society.
In some videos, the youths were also seen uprooting iron fences and throwing them into the nearby water, while scenes of vandalism around the dancing fountains raised questions about the arrangements.
According to sources, the event was held as a family event, but effective arrangements for entry and crowd control were not seen.
A post going viral on social media claimed that various types of tickets were sold, including VIP tickets, but many people who reached the venue were stopped at places from which neither the stage nor the concert could be seen. Allegedly, the roads were blocked when people demanded a refund of their ticket money, which led to public anger and further tension.
Some videos show security personnel standing at a distance, while in some scenes, baton charge is also seen. According to reports, clashes broke out between people trying to enter without tickets and security, during which stones were also pelted.
A viral clip also claims that some people were forcibly entering and were trying to re-enter after being evicted. Usually, boys without families are banned from entering the event, but this policy did not seem to be followed at this event.
Allegations of harassment of women also surfaced during the chaos. A viral video showed a female reporter reporting during an emergency briefing when a cloth suddenly covers her face, after which she looks clearly distressed.
These incidents have sparked a strong reaction on social media. On one hand, miscreants are being held responsible, while on the other hand, the Park View City administration is being criticised for poor planning and security arrangements. Some users say that if there is no capacity to handle such a large event, then such programs should not be organised, while another section has demanded strict action against those involved in vandalism.
So far, no official position has been taken by the Park View City administration on these allegations or the viral videos; however, this incident has raised serious question on the management and security of New Year celebrations.
