Punjab launches special surveillance plan for Eid cattle market

The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced a special surveillance plan to strengthen security arrangements at the cattle market across the province ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the PSCA authorities, monitoring operations are being conducted through Safe City cameras, drone surveillance and portable 4G cameras installed at cattle markets, including several locations in Lahore.

A spokesperson for the authority said that the cattle markets and surrounding areas were being monitored 24/7 through a Virtual Patrolling Centre (VPC) established at the PSCA headquarters.

The spokesperson added that additional portable 4G cameras were being deployed at multiple sites to improve surveillance of sensitive areas, as well as entry and exit points at the markets.

Officials said any suspicious activity detected through the surveillance systems was being immediately relayed to police and field teams to ensure swift action.

The authority also said illegal cattle markets and unauthorised sale points were being identified and reported to relevant departments as part of efforts to ensure organised and secure arrangements for citizens before Eid-ul-Azha.

Rawalpindi police releases traffic plan for Eid-ul-Azha cattle market

The City Traffic Police (CTP) Rawalpindi has released a traffic plan for the Eid-ul-Azha cattle market on May 20, 2026.

According to the spokesperson of the CTP, the traffic plan was released to ensure a smooth traffic flow and to keep in view the convenience of citizens.

The spokesperson added that to keep the traffic steady and to tackle the traffic rush in the busy markets, more than 81 traffic police personnel have been deployed at various regions across the city.

“Four vehicle lifters will also be on the move to remove any kind of illegally parked vehicles, whether it is a bike or a car”, said the spokesperson.

The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO), Farhan Aslam, said that we will make sure that the citizens do not face any kind of difficulty while travelling towards the cattle markets.

He stated that parking of vehicles on the main roads would not be allowed at any cost.

The CTO added that public awareness regarding parking and traffic arrangements is being conveyed through public address systems.

Farhan Aslam said, “Additional traffic personnel will be deployed if crowds increase at the markets.”

He also requested the citizens to cooperate with the traffic police during Eid shopping activities to ensure smooth traffic flow across the city.

According to the spokesperson of the CTP, eight cattle markets have been installed in Rawalpindi, two inside the city and six cattle markets are located outside of the city.

The cattle markets set up inside the Rawalpindi city are located at Bhata Chowk and Mouza Raniyal.

Talking about the Gujar Khan area, where the cattle markets have been installed on Gulyana Road near the slaughterhouse and at Rawat Police Station.

In Taxila, cattle markets are located at HIT Timber Market and near Sharif Hospital on GT Road.

Meanwhile, additional cattle markets have been established at Bypass Chowk in Kallar Syedan and on Sakhi Sabzwari Tangi Road in Kahuta.
