The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is set to establish new sports and recreational arenas in F-8 Markaz, G-11/3 Markaz and D-12/1, offering residents a range of modern fitness and sporting facilities.
The planned facilities will include indoor swimming pools, gyms, futsal courts, cricket cages, indoor and outdoor paddle courts, basketball courts, multipurpose sports halls and children’s play areas.
The projects will also feature health bars, walking and running tracks, landscaping and parking facilities, providing residents with expanded options for sports, fitness and recreation.
According to reported details, the PC-Is for all three projects have already been approved, with a combined estimated cost of around Rs953 million to Rs1 billion. The reported allocations include Rs307 million for F-8, Rs317 million for G-11/3 and Rs327 million for D-12/1.
Once construction begins, each project is expected to be completed within approximately one year, adding new sports and recreational facilities to three major sectors of Islamabad.
The new sports arenas will also provide venues for coaching programmes, tournaments, leagues and community-level sporting activities, giving residents more opportunities to participate in organised sports.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to improve access to recreational and fitness facilities across Islamabad. By developing the arenas in different sectors and commercial centres, the CDA aims to bring sports and fitness activities closer to local communities.
The projects will be funded through the CDA’s own resources, while construction contracts will be awarded through open competitive bidding in accordance with Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules.
According to the CDA, the projects are expected to generate around 360 jobs during the construction phase and approximately 92 positions once the facilities become operational.
