The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has instructed the residents of Islamabad to implement a Water Harvesting System in their residential or commercial properties, allowing them a period of six months.
According to reports, citizens are expected to channel water from their rooftops and commercial structures back into the ground.
The Capital Development Authority has also been tasked with incorporating the water harvesting system into the new maps.
The CDA has declared the installation of a water harvesting system as mandatory for all farmhouses, government buildings, playgrounds, and rural areas.
Following the six-month period, teams from the Capital Development Authority will conduct door-to-door inspections to verify the installation of the system.
Strict measures will be taken against individuals who do not comply with the installation of a water harvesting system, and hefty fines will be imposed on those who fail to follow this requirement.
CDA launches sanitation plan
Earlier in March, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) revealed new measures aimed at promoting sanitation services in Islamabad.
The CDA made plans to install extra waste containers and repair broken waste bins throughout the capital.
Furthermore, additional waste trolleys and dustbins will be placed in key locations.
A three-bin waste segregation system will be implemented in commercial centers to promote recycling initiatives.
Traders will be engaged in cleanliness campaigns within the markets.
