RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir warned India that be in no illusion, our next response will be even more swifter and severe.
Speaking on Pakistan-Afghanistan tensions, the Field Marshal said that a clear message had been given to the Afghan Taliban regime in Kabul.
“The [Afghan] Taliban have no option but to choose between Fitna al-Khawarij [TTP] and Pakistan,” he remarked.
Reiterating that Pakistan is a peace-loving country, the CDF warned that no one will be allowed to threaten the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, or test its resolve.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defence officially notified Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF)
The move came a day after President Asif Ali Zardari approved the appointment on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recommendation.
“President Zardari approved Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as COAS and concurrently as CDF for five years,” said a statement from the President House on Thursday.
Field Marshal Munir, who was promoted earlier this year to the rank of field marshal will continue to serve as Chief of Army Staff for five years.
