The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has released the annual performance report for the financial year 2024-25 related to companies involved in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, in which a detailed review of the health, safety, and environmental performance of the institutions has been taken.
The report has declared the performance of Chashma Nuclear and Karachi Nuclear Power Plants, managed by the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, as the best in the country.
According to NEPRA, these two nuclear power plants have set exceptional standards in the field of health, safety, and environment, and have ensured full implementation of all safety requirements.
According to NEPRA’s report, a total of 149 institutions related to the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity were examined, in which Chashma and Karachi nuclear power plants stood out significantly.
The report states that both plants have maintained continuous improvement in their performance over the past few years, which is a reflection of strong management structures and effective strategies.
The report states that modern safety systems are in place at the Chashma and Karachi nuclear power plants, the staff is fully trained, and there are effective and coordinated arrangements to deal with emergencies.
