China announces 70 fully funded scholarships for Pakistani students

China scholarships

China remains one of the most popular destinations for Pakistani students wanting to study in a foreign university, be it undergraduate, master’s, or PhD.

China offers numerous fully funded and partially funded scholarships in university degrees and higher education.

In total, there are about 70 scholarship opportunities offered by Chinese government, which include provincial and university-based initiatives. Also, the Chinese higher education is accessible and affordable.

Among the most prominent is the Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC), this is their flagship program.

It includes tuition fees, accommodation, and medical insurance coverage and provides monthly stipends of about CNY 2,500 for bachelor’s students, CNY 3,000 for master’s and CNY 3,500 for PhD students.

Deadlines for CSC applications usually come in at about late March, depending on the university.

Provincial scholarships such as the Beijing, Shanghai, and Tianjin Government Scholarships also provide large amounts of funding.

These programs generally feature tuition funding, housing, and stipends, and have March-May 2026 deadlines.

Shanghai Government Scholarships in particular are still open until June in some universities.

In addition to these opportunities, the top universities in China offer institution-specific scholarships.

Prestigious institutions such as Tsinghua University, Nankai University, etc, have fully funded programs with competitive stipends and full coverage.

In addition, specialised schemes, like the Youth of Excellence Program, thus focus on the Master level of study and leadership development.

Within the range of programs, some of the common benefits are full or partial tuition waivers, accommodation (free or subsidised), monthly stipends, and health insurance.

Stipends usually fall between CNY2,500 and CNY3500/month, which depends upon the degree of study.

With application deadlines for this ranging from February to July 2026, there are several opportunities for students to apply through the CSC portal of Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission (HEC) or through university websites directly.
