Climate change behind UK’s record-breaking heat in 2025

Climate change UK

LONDON: 2025 was UK’s sunniest and hottest year ever recorded. It was confirmed by national weather service on Friday. The reason for this was clearly climate change, UK is getting warmer and warmer every year.

In 2022, the previous record was set at 10.03C.

According to the Met Office, 2025 with 2022, 2023 are the top three warmest years since 1884. The mean temperature of United Kingdom last year was 10.09C. The Met office added that this was a clear demonstration of the impacts of climate change on UK’s weather.

This is only the second time since 1884 when UK’s annual mean temperature exceeded 10.0C.

The last four UK years have now appeared in the top 5 warmest years since 1884. While all the top 10 hottest years have occurred in the last two decades.

The record series began in 1910. The Met has confirmed that 2025 was the country’s sunniest year since then.

Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Island saw 1648.5 hours of sunshine. It was 61.4 hours more than the previous record set in 2003.

Climate Change is being blamed for the reason for this increase. UK is generally a cold country. However, in recent years the weather is getting warmer. UK homes and buildings are not designed for warm weather. Due to this even a little warm weather feels like hot.

The homes are built to keep the warmth inside. Most homes do not have ACs and fans. Hence, the people of UK are suffering in hot weather.

Similarly, the people are also not familiar with warm weather. Experiencing warm weather makes them feel uncomfortable and feel sick. Their skins are also not designed to withstand so much sunlight.

This is just a trailer of climate change. Scientists have started saying that we have now left the era of Global Warming and entered the age of Global Boiling.
