The Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, has directed authorities to ensure strict security arrangements at bus stands, markets and commercial centres during Chand Raat and the Eid holidays.
The instructions were issued during a meeting held to review security measures across the province.
Focus on public safety in busy areas
Officials have been asked to deploy additional personnel in bazaars on Chand Raat, when markets are expected to be crowded.
CM Punjab also ordered that women police squads should patrol public areas to prevent harassment.
She said the safety of women and children must be ensured at all times.
Use of surveillance technology
Authorities have been directed to use drone cameras and night-vision devices to monitor markets and commercial areas.
Strict checks have also been ordered to prevent dangerous activities such as one-wheeling on roads during the festive period.
Security and patrolling around ATMs and banks will be increased to reduce the risk of street crime.
Police and transport officials have been told to maintain continuous monitoring at wagon stands and bus terminals, where travel is expected to increase.
Instructions on fares and transport
The CM also emphasised that fare lists must be clearly displayed on buses and vans.
This is intended to help passengers avoid being overcharged during Eid travel.
Officials say the measures are aimed at maintaining order and ensuring safer movement as large numbers of people visit markets and travel across the province.
Meanwhile, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said the government had completed its Ramzan relief programme.
She said the initiative included the distribution of relief cards, the setting up of “Maryam’s Dastarkhwans,” and special bazaars.
According to the minister, assistance was delivered to millions of people at their homes, with an emphasis on transparency and maintaining the dignity of beneficiaries.
