Web desk: A cockroach crawling on his plate of sandwiches and samosas left People’s Party Senator Waqar Mehdi stunned during a Senate committee meeting on Tuesday.
This incident has raised many concerns about the unhygienic conditions in the Parliament House.
‘It’s the third time’
Senator Mehdi said this was the third time such an incident had occurred with him.
He noted that cockroaches were seen at various places in the Parliament House, including plates, tables, and office files.
Chairman of the Committee, Senator Saifullah Abro, took serious notice of the PPP senator’s complaint.
Senator Abro confirmed that Mehdi had previously written to the Senate Secretariat regarding the presence of cockroaches.
Additionally, about the poor sanitary conditions within the parliamentary premises.
The incident has drawn attention to the urgent need for improved hygiene and regular sanitation in the Parliament House.
Parliament House
The Parliament House is located in the Red Zone. It serves as the seat of Pakistan’s supreme legislative body.
It houses both the National Assembly and the Senate. It was inaugurated on May 28, 1986.
The building is expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene because of its importance.
However, the recent incident of a cockroach crawling on a senator’s plate has raised serious concerns about cleanliness within the Parliament House.
