Coke Studio unveils Nu.WAV in Pakistan

Coke Studio has announced Nu.WAV, a new music platform set to launch in September, offering a fresh space for artists, producers and storytellers to define their own sounds, communities and audiences.

Building on the legacy of Coke Studio, Nu.WAV aims to create a different kind of creative environment by bringing together established and emerging talent from music, film, design and visual storytelling. The platform will give creators greater freedom to experiment and develop their work independently while remaining connected to the wider Coke Studio ecosystem.

The new platform is being led by executive producer Kamal Khan, an award-winning filmmaker, director and Coke Studio veteran. However, unlike the traditional Coke Studio model, Nu.WAV will not follow a single creative direction. Instead, it will feature multiple artistic perspectives, with each song carrying its own distinct sound and creative identity.

The inaugural edition of Coke Studio Nu.WAV features Aaryan SDQ, Afusic, Asim Azhar, Hasan Raheem, Izz Chughtai, Maanu, Sabaat Batin, Shae Gill, Young Stunners and Zoha Waseem.

The first edition will feature six songs Maheya, Dil, Rangeen, Qasam, Shabnam and Ae Deewan e Dil. According to the creators, the songs will collectively present a portrait of Pakistani identity, with each track exploring its own emotional world.

The songs will reflect themes ranging from ambition to belonging while highlighting the voices and experiences shaping Pakistan’s contemporary music scene.

Speaking about Nu.WAV, Sami Wahid, general manager for Pakistan and Afghanistan at The Coca-Cola Company, said Coke Studio had evolved over nearly two decades from a music platform into a major expression of Pakistan’s cultural identity.

He said that across 15 seasons and nearly 350 musical releases, Coke Studio had carried Pakistani sounds and stories to audiences in more than 180 countries while providing opportunities for emerging artists.

According to Wahid, Nu.WAV represents the next chapter of this journey, creating more room for artists, producers and creative communities that are shaping the country’s music today.

Kamal Khan described Nu.WAV as a different approach to music-making, reflecting how many contemporary artists now work through laptops, home studios and independent releases.

Rather than imposing one musical direction, Khan said his role was to bring the right creators together and allow them to develop their own artistic identities.

The platform has also opened opportunities for emerging creators through the Nu.WAV Portal, which invited submissions from across Pakistan in categories including singing, dancing and other creative disciplines. The portal received thousands of entries, helping identify artists for Nu.WAV while also uncovering a wider pool of emerging talent.

Nu.WAV also features a diverse group of producers, including Abdullah Kasumbi, Ali Soomro, Jokhay, Rovalio, Talal Qureshi and Umair, who are shaping the sound of the six tracks.

The six Coke Studio Nu.WAV songs will be released individually, with further details about each track, its artists and the creative vision behind them expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
