Dense fog shuts multiple motorways across Punjab

Dense fog has blanketed large parts of Punjab, forcing authorities to close several motorways as visibility dropped sharply on highways.

A spokesperson for the Motorways Central Region said officials closed the M-3 motorway from Faizpur to Jaranwala, the M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakeem and from Gojra to Abdul Hakeem, and the M-5 from Multan to Zahir Pir due to poor visibility caused by fog.

Authorities also shut the Multan-to-Sukkur section of the M-5. In addition, officials closed stretches of the M-5 motorway from Multan to Dera Ismail Khan and from Rahim Yar Khan to Rohri as dense fog continued to disrupt traffic flow.

The spokesperson said the closures aim to protect lives and property, warning that lane violations in foggy conditions could result in serious accidents.

Authorities advised road users to strictly follow lane discipline and avoid unnecessary travel, especially during nighttime and early morning hours.
