ISLAMABAD: The weather is likely to remain cold and dry in most parts of the country, including Islamabad while most of Punjab will remain shrouded in smog.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry and cold in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. The weather is also likely to remain cold and dry in Murree and Galiyat.
The plains of Punjab are likely to remain shrouded in smog. The Meteorological Department has directed citizens to avoid unnecessary outings and to use masks.
The weather is also predicted to remain dry in most districts of Sindh and Balochistan. According to the department, the temperature is expected to drop further due to northern winds.
On the other hand, the intensity of air pollution in Lahore has once again increased to dangerous levels. According to global standards, Lahore has come in second place among the most polluted cities in the world. The city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 343.
According to the Environment Department, the highest pollution was recorded in the Ravi Road area at 676 AQI, while 658 was noted in the Mall Road DC Office area and 529 AQI in Allama Iqbal Town.
According to the Meteorological Department, the weather in Lahore has started to turn cold. The city’s temperature was recorded at 16 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature is expected to be 27 and the minimum is expected to be 12 degrees Celsius.
Experts say that due to increasing cold and air pollution, citizens need to take special precautions.
