The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) on Monday, announced the conservation of the famous cultural heritage site, Wazir Khan Baradari in Anarkali, Lahore.
In a post on X, the conservation authority showed pictures of the progress of the ongoing preservation project.
Punjab Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz ordered a comprehensive conservation plan of the cultural site to be implemented. However, a court case has caused delays in the project with conservation efforts still underway.

This project aimed to protect historical records, artifacts, archival materials and guarantee their sustenance for the future generations.
Deemed a significant part of Lahore’s past, Wazir Khan Baradari was a symbol of the city’s cultural and historical identity in addition to being a stunning example of architectural revival.
The ongoing project includes the preservation of historical materials in compliance with contemporary methods and global conservation standards, as well as structural stabilisation and protection from moisture buildup.
In a statement, WCLA Director Director General Najam-us-Saqib, said, “‘Lahore’s historical heritage is a priceless asset to our national identity and cultural history. Through the conservation of the Archive Building, the Punjab government is not only preserving a historical structure but also protecting valuable documents and artifacts housed within it for future generations. The WCLA remains committed to taking all possible measures for the protection and conservation of our heritage.”
