The District and Session court in Islamabad has granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in seven cases. The additional district and session Judge, Afzal Majoka, heard the petition for bail before the arrest of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on Tuesday.
After hearing the petition, the court granted bail to PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
There were several cases, including the cases of May 9, Azadi March, attempted murder, vandalism, and fake Tosha Khana receipts registered against Imran Khan. On the other hand, the case of fake Tosha Khana receipts was registered against Bushra Bibi.
Raja Naveed Hussain Kiani, Mazhar Bashir, and Tahir Kazim appeared in the court on behalf of the prosecution. However, the prosecution said that there is solid evidence found against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the mentioned cases, adding that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are not entitled to bail.
What did Salman Safdar say in court?
Salman Safdar, the lawyer of Imran Khan, said in the court of Afzal Majoka that the court never rejected the pre-arrest bail of Imran Khan in any case except the May 9 cases. The government creates some cases to intimidate, in which no charges have ever been filed, he added.
After hearing the arguments by both parties, the court granted interim bail to both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in said cases.
Earlier last week, the local court of Islamabad also extended the pre-arrest bail of Imran Khan in the attempted murder case of Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha.
However, the court also directed police to stop arresting Imran Khan in the mentioned case and provided pre-arrest bail to Bushra Bibi in the related matter.
