Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly become the first footballer to reach billionaire status, with the Bloomberg Billionaires Index estimating his net worth at about 1.4 billion dollars.
Bloomberg puts his net worth at 1.4 billion dollars
Bloomberg’s assessment places Ronaldo in a rare group of billionaire athletes.
The report says he earned more than 550 million dollars in salary from 2002 to 2023.
A decade long Nike contract worth nearly 18 million dollars a year added steady income.
Further endorsements with brands such as Armani and Castrol brought in more than 175 million dollars.
Together, these streams helped lift his career earnings and investments into billionaire territory.
Saudi deal and past earnings turbocharged his wealth
Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s latest contract with Al Nassr, signed in June, reportedly exceeds 400 million dollars and strengthens his financial position.
His 2023 move to the Saudi club had already made him the highest paid player in football history, with a salary of 177 million pounds plus bonuses and a reported 15 percent share in the club’s revenues.
His billionaire status now places him alongside Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Tiger Woods, and Roger Federer.
Ronaldo says he is not done yet
Finally, the 40 year old forward says retirement is not on his mind.
At the Portugal Football Globes gala, he explained that he still has the passion to compete and to score goals.
He said his family sometimes tells him it is time to quit, yet he insists he is still producing good things for his club and for the national team.
He added that he knows he does not have many years left to play, so the years he has must be enjoyed to the fullest.
