- Maintain an average monthly electricity consumption of 200 units or below to remain in the Protected Category.
- Have a valid CNIC that matches the registration details of the electricity connection.
How to apply
Eligible consumers can register online by following these simple steps:
- Visit the official Cross Subsidy Program Registration Portal.
- Enter the 10 to 14-digit reference number printed on your electricity bill to check your eligibility.
- Complete the security captcha and mobile OTP verification process.
- Submit your CNIC and electricity connection details to complete the registration for upcoming billing cycles.
The program is easing the financial burden on low-income households by ensuring they receive subsidized electricity tariffs while encouraging efficient energy consumption.
On the other hand, electricity consumers in Pakistan who use up to 200 units per month could risk losing government subsidies if they fail to complete the newly required QR code verification process.
Power distribution companies have begun urging protected consumers to register their details by scanning the QR code printed on their monthly electricity bills.
